Website Usability

Usability is a term used when referring to a website's "ease-of-use" attribute. How easy is it for a visitor (potential customer) to navigate the website? This is directly related to the website's architecture and the understandability of its graphic or written content (or copy). Each path a visitor takes should be planned out in a logical manner with the least amount of clicks possible. This is especially important when trying to pull a visitor through your site to become a member, make a phone call or buy something.

For more complex sites, a Quality Assurance (QA) individual may be assigned to make sure that the site is usable as well as functional. However, usability issues should be resolved early in the planning process. If a website has a proper usability level, there should be no frustration or difficulties, on the part of the visitor while navigating the site. If a site is planned out correctly, usability should not be an issue.
